My grandmother, Gladys, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. She was a very strong and determined woman in her life and her Faith. She has always been an inspiration in my life being that our paths have so very similar. I am her “mini me”. She was diagnosed a week after my grandfather passed away. She told us she knew something wasn’t quite right, but that she had to take care of him. Because to her, no one could do it like her. She loved him with everything in her, even so that she put her needs aside. She fought hard for one solid year. The cancer spread to other organs and then to her spine. She was eventually placed in home hospice and passed away in her home with my mom by her side. She lived just long enough to see my baby, her great grandson turn 1. She is one of the largest reasons I support breast cancer awareness & research. I am truly in awe at the strength & resilience that these women possess.
