10 Personal Hygiene Hacks You Should Know


Good hygiene matters and having good hygiene means better health and feeling good. Marinating proper personal hygiene does not have to be expensive and difficult. Here are 10 hacks that will help you maintain your cleanliness.

1. Wash your hair thrice a week

Wash your hair with a good shampoo and conditioner is a good hair hygiene. It helps you get rid of dirt and dandruff from your hair. But only do this thrice per week. Your body produces some of the best oils and nutrients that are necessary for having strong and long hair and skipping showers may help to restore them. Treat your hair to some oil. It’s necessary to keep your hair hydrated.

2. Use coconut oil for your hair

Un-moisturized or dry scalp may lead to serious dandruff problems. Coconut oil helps to control secretion of oil from your scalp and reduce dandruff. Simply massage your hair with coconut oil for an hour or two before you wash your hair. Coconut oil has moisturizing properties that reduce itching and flaking of the scalp and gives your hair a shiny, smooth look.

3. Clean your teeth

You always want to be able to smile with confidence to people you meet, so having a bright and clean smile always matters. Brushing your teeth twice a day is not enough. Flossing should be a part of your daily dental hygiene routine. It freshens your breath and cleans your teeth and gums that is unreachable by ordinary toothbrush.

You do not need to spend a lot of money to get your teeth whitened professionally. Brushing your teeth with a paste made up of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide can work magic. In addition, rinse your toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide every week to get rid of germs.

4. Get rid of ear wax

Your ears produce wax as a protective measure against bacteria, bugs and dirt, so avoid cleaning them regularly. But too much of it can clog your ears and affects your hearing and it may actually cause ear infection.

Cotton swabs are one of the most widely used to clean the ear, but be careful not to push them too far to your ear drums. Also turn the ear swab while slowly pushing it  inside so it will catch the wax instead of just pushing them deeper. You may also use Hydrogen Peroxide which helps to soften and loosen the ear wax, so they can be easily removed from the folds of your hear.

5. Get rid of bad breath

Having bad breath is a big turn off. So it is no wonder getting rid of bad breath must be high on your priority list. While brushing your teeth, include your tongue to get rid of some particles or germs stuck in your tongue. It will also clean your taste buds so you’ll be able to enjoy the food you eat.

Another way of ensuring fresh breath is to gargle with baking soda or hydrogen peroxide. Mouthwash made of these compounds can also help you whiten your teeth.

 6. Keep your body cool


Hot weather brings all sorts of problem to your body – from excessive sweating to rashes, itchy red skin, smelly body.. etc.. Therefore, keeping your body cool is essential. Fruits that are rich in water, such as watermelons, grapes, cucumber, coconuts, strawberries can keep your body hydrated during hot weather days. Drink a lot of water and fresh fruits and herbs. This will provide your body with the necessary vitamins and minerals to fight the heat.

7. Use natural deodorants

Daily shower is necessary but it can’t prevent you from body odor after working the entire day. In order to fight the sour odor from your armpits, use some deodorants, but make sure they are free from aluminum. ( which are usually associated with breast cancer) Coconut oils and arrowroots can be a good natural deodorants. The natural antibacterial and antifungal properties of coconut oil kill fungi, yeast and bacteria. Simply rub a small amount in your armpits.

8. Hot-Cold Shower

There is no better way to clean yourself from accumulated dirt and stink, but to take a good shower. But you can do better than a normal shower. 9. Take care of your skin

The Skin is the top most layer of your body that protects you from any outside matter from infecting your body and it is responsible on how you appear, therefore it is very important to take care of your skin. Protecting your skin from the sun is one of the most important steps in your skin care routine. Excessive sun exposure may cause your skin to wrinkle, age spot and sun burns that take the charm out of your skin. Always apply sunscreen whenever you walk out in the sun, especially when you are out of the beach.

You need to keep your skin hydrated. Use moisturizing creams and lotions after showers to prevent it from dryness. In addition, replace strong soaps that strip your skin of oil with mild cleansers.

10. Clean your feet

There are many reasons to clean your feet. That they smell -really, really bad- is unarguably on top of the list. The sweat produced by your feet when trapped in your socks and shoes cannot evaporate resulting in a disgusting stink. Wash your feet properly. Get a wash cloth and scrub your toes and base properly. Further, soak your feet in a baking soda and lemon mixture.

Alternatively you can use Epsom salts or vinegar to prepare a mixture to soak your feet in. Using clean socks and shoes is also equally important to prevent foul odor reeking from your feet.
