Healthy breasts do not need "support". Our noses, ears, arms, and all our body parts do not need any “support’ either. If you put your left arm in a sling for six weeks, on the first morning of the seventh week, you would need "support" for that arm, because it would have lost all muscle tone.
Naturally, none of your body parts need any external support (unless you are injured). Women evolved bra free. They ran, chased things, climbed trees, bounced up and down, exercised, and did many other things, bra free. The regular underwired bra with elastic straps and bands, were invented only about 80 years ago.
"Wearing a bra has no medical necessity whatsoever", says Susan M. Love, M.D in her book 'Dr. Susan Love's Breast'. This is similar to the myth that women supposedly need corsets to support their stomach muscles.
Even up till today, there have not been any medical research that proves the need for women to wear bras. So is wearing a regular underwired bra with elastic straps and bands beneficial, or even healthy? Could it be doing more harm than good?
Professor Jean-Denis Rouillon, a sports medicine specialist from Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Besancon in Besancon, France, published a study that shows that wearing bras may not prevent women's breasts from sagging, and may in fact increase it.
"Our first results confirm the hypothesis that the bra is a false need," says Professor Rouillon. "Medically, physiologically, anatomically, the breast does not benefit from being deprived of gravity. Instead, it languishes with a bra."
The 15-year study involved 330 volunteers between the ages 18 and 35. Researchers measured their breasts using a slide ruler and a calliper and recorded any changes throughout the study period.
Women who did not wear bras had a 7 millimetre lift as measured from their nipples each year. Their breasts were also firmer, and their stretch marks faded.
In a separate 5-year study by Ryan EL, large-breasted women removed the weight of breasts from their shoulders for two weeks, either by going braless or by wearing a strapless bra. Only one woman chose a strapless bra and all the others went braless.
The researchers monitored the women for muscle pain and tenderness. After the study, 79% of patients decided to remove breast weight from the shoulder permanently because it rendered them symptom free!
Breasts need to move. They need to jiggle and they need freedom as well. If you stop wearing a bra, you may have temporary breast discomfort. Some women who throw their bras away find that they have increased breast pain for a few days. This is most common among women with larger breasts.
Give your breasts time to adjust to being bra free. If your breasts are being slammed around during vigorous exercise or causing pain, then you need to wait until your breasts have recovered from years of bra-wearing before you can go completely bra free during strenuous exercise.
"If you are not perfectly comfortable to go bra-less immediately, at least wear bras with minimal support, such as bras without underwire and elastic straps, so you can slowly build up the strength of the muscles supporting your breast." said researchers at StickeeBra, who pared down their own bra collections to just a few items. Products from StickeeBra do not consists of any underwire or elastic straps.
Just as pubescent teen girls' breasts were "trained" in training bras, to need support, yours can be trained to no longer need support.
Some women have reported that exercising on mini-trampolines, bra free, helped them recovered from fibrocystic disease, monthly breast fullness, and tenderness.
Women have been overly reliant on bras, and many more women have the misconception that they need to wear a bra for “support”, or other reasons. Stickeebra believes that women should always take actions to improve their health, well being and happiness, is what we really believe in.
"Many women told us that Stickeebra really makes their breasts feel unrestricted," says researchers at StickeeBra, "because there are no under wires that pokes into their ribs, or uncomfortable elastic straps that digs into their flesh, they promote better breast health."
The products come in a transparent travel and storage case, and the adhesive is made with medical grade Bio-gel, that is safe to use on most regular skin. The original StickeeBra is available in black and nude for matching with different colored outfits; a Wings design for more coverage up the sides; a front-lacing bra for a more control; a more elegant floral laces bra design for special events; a silicone Stickeebra for an invisible look; a silicone nipple pasties for a totally bra free experience. Whatever occasion you have, this bra works.
The bras start from $29 each and sold only on their website.
And this line is not just for women who are less-endowed. "StickeeBra is the sound of a revolution in intimate wear," researchers at StickeeBra says. "Bra companies are constantly adding more straps, thicker wires, more 'support'; we are taking all these away."
"We are the only company that is pro-health, not pro-fashion." says researchers from StickeeBra, who thinks that many women put too much energy into looking better while neglecting their health.
"Wearing bras with elastic straps, bands, and underwire, limited the growth of breast tissue, which may lead to deterioration of the muscles that support the breasts." says researchers at StickeeBra. "If you wear an adhesive bra without elastic straps, bands and underwire, the muscles around the breast are worked-out more."
Researchers at StickeeBra saw a health problem caused by regular bras, yet 90% of women still continues to wear them daily despite bras being uncomfortable. "Because everybody does so" and "because I feel immoral or indecent without bras" are the top reasons why women wear bra.
"We believe that everyone should be treated with respect, and women should feel confident and comfortable to go bra-less whenever they want." says StickeeBra.
"We help women be healthier by using bras without elastic straps, bands and underwire, and then slowly help them transit to a bra-less life".
"Be as natural as possible. Use nipple covers like the Stickee Pasties if you are concerned about wardrobe malfunction."
"Our customer's satisfaction is our top priority, and we treat our customers like our own family." says StickeeBra.
"We created our brand with certain values: Family like support, always caring, always here. These were not negotiable."
So, StickeeBra is simple: Healthy living, happy life, family love.
"When somebody says to you, 'Wow, did you fall in love?' That's successful bra."
